MAB & MDD Meetup | Do Designers Play? A Conversation on Games, People, Cities, and Technology

MAB & MDD Meetup | Do Designers Play? A Conversation on Games, People, Cities, and Technology

Date: 27 February, 2020
Time: 20:00 – 22:00
Location: HvA Leeuwenburg, Weesperzijde 190, Amsterdam (1st floor Rooms B 1.18 – B 1.20)

The Master Digital Design, the Media Architecture Biennale 2020, and Trust in Play – the European School of Urban Game Design invites you to participate in a conversation with Sebastian Quack and Nina Lund Westerdahl and explore the intersection between play, design, and cities.

Can playfulness become a tool to make cities more livable? What methods could digital designers borrow from game makers for shining a spotlight on the human and social aspects of technology? How to set the boundary between making everyday life playfully enjoyable and tricking people with shallow “gamified” rewards? And, more generally, should designers play, and what practical lessons are there to learn from this universal human activity?
