MAB20 Livecast #6 | Launch of V59 – Futures Implied, VOLUMExMAB20

Date: 26 May, 2021
Time: 18:30 – 19:30 CET
Hosted and streamed by Pakhuis de Zwijger

The MAB20 joined forces with VOLUME magazine to publish V59 – Futures Implied, fresh off the printing press!

When brought into the city, no technology is a neutral enabler, a mere decoration, or just a marketplace of supply&demand. Urban technologies are built upon spoken and unspoken assumptions about urban life, each with peculiar implications for social relations and the natural ecosystem.

It is time for the discipline of media architecture to get under its own skin, and address the implied futures of new technologies. In V59 – Futures Implied we invited people that showed relentlessly the courage to look behind the facade: TED speaker Rachel Armstrong and young creative agency (ab)Normal will join us for the launch of V59, to talk about their works and ambitions in the inquiry of urban technologies.

Speakers

  • Rachel Armstrong, Professor of Experimental Architecture at Newcastle University School of Architecture
  • (ab)Normal, creative agency engaged in the multidisciplinary exploration of areas such as design, architecture, scenography and graphic design.
