Marjolijn Ruyg


The Learning Community Urban IxD was established in 2020 with the aim of creating an educational and professional community that promotes the link between research and education and that stimulates the exchange of knowledge and skills in the field of Urban Interaction Design. 

Marjolijn has a bachelor degree of Graphic Design from Gerrit Rietveld Academie and a master degree (MSc) of Media Technology from Leiden University. Her varied career spans more than three decades of work in the forefront of innovative design. Starting as a graphic designer, she developed herself as a creative interaction designer and new media specialist. Already in the early nineties she worked on new media and cross media projects (e.g. The Digital City Amsterdam, webjournalism project Ars Electronica Austria, interactive installation Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam). She designed numerous award-winning webprojects, publications and exhibitions. As a lecturer she works for more than 20 years on various educational institutes and art academies, a.o. Gerrit Rietveld Academie.
