Valeska Hanel, born 1971 close to Cologne, studied acting and script logic at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York City. She worked in numerous fields of theatre and film including acting, directing and as a script advisor. She was part of the press department of the regional film funding company Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. Since 2012 she has worked at Neue Kammerspiele as head of cinema programming and public relations. She is currenly working on the EU-funded Project Connecting Cinemas to strengthen International cinema networks in rural regions. She’s cofounder of the Kinofrauen – a network for female cinema operators – and one of the coordinators of the Landkinonetzwerk – a German network connecting cinemas in rural Areas nationwide. She lives with her three children in Kleinmachnow, Brandenburg.
