Bastiaan Gribling


After studying Architecture at the Technical University Delft, Bastiaan Gribling worked for two years in Barcelona at MBM ARCHITECTS on the plan for the ‘Vila Olympica’, a new city district in Barcelona. From 1991 to 1999, he was an urban planner at the Municipality of Amsterdam, SPATIAL PLANNING DEPARTMENT (DRO), where he worked on various projects in the city center and the IJ-Oever area. From 2000 to 2016, partner at CITYTHOUGHTS ARCHITECTS, a consultancy for architecture, urban planning and cultural projects. In addition to his work for CITYTHOUGHTS ARCHITECTS, Bastiaan Gribling worked as an urban planner for various municipalities, such as Amsterdam, Leiden, The Hague. In 2011, Bastiaan Gribling started CITYSCAPES GALLERY, a cultural enterprise focused on the interfaces between architecture, city and art.

In 2016 Bastiaan Gribling founded CITYSCAPES FOUNDATION, an institution that organizes projects and events on the interface of art, architecture and the city. Since 2020 Gribling is project manager and head curator of the Living Art Lab Marineterrein Amsterdam.
