Martijn de Waal (1972) is a writer and researcher with an interest in new media & public space. He is currently working as a professor (lector) at the research group of Civic Interaction Design at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. He is a (co-) author of books as The Platform Society (Oxford University Press 2018) and The City as Interface (NAi010 Publishers 2014). During 2018 he functioned as the head of research for the faculty of Digital Media and Creative Industries at that university. He is the general chair for the Media Architecture Biennale 20.
